DOD Watch Stands by the Department of Defense on School Discipline

WASHINGTON – DOD Watch, an organization dedicated to exposing radical policies within the Department of Defense, DOD Watch, issued the following statement in response to recent student protests at U.S. military schools overseas and the Department of Defense’s efforts to maintain order, discipline, and mission-aligned education in its classrooms.

"America’s military institutions, including our Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools, must remain grounded in the values that uphold discipline, excellence, and mission readiness. While every American values the right to free expression, the Department of Defense is right to prioritize the integrity of the classroom and the well-being of all students. Our military schools exist to support the children of our service members, families who already bear extraordinary burdens in defense of our nation. These schools must function as stable, mission-aligned environments that reflect the high standards of the Armed Forces.

“These protests undermine the broader need to return DoDEA to its core educational mission, free from political activism and ideological distractions. Removing inappropriate or ideologically driven materials from classrooms and ensuring that extracurricular programs align with the values of military service is leadership, not erasure as insinuated by some students.

“These schools must remain spaces where excellence and respect are taught and lived. We support the Department’s efforts to refocus its schools on rigorous academics, time-tested values, and unity of purpose, rather than promoting divisive ideologies that distract from the mission.”
